Bob Hoffman was a student of George F. Jowett who went on to make his own mark in the bodybuilding world. In 1932, Hoffman founded the York-Barbell Company, which served as the home base for many of the early bodybuilders. With the help of Jowett, Hoffman also founded a bodybuilding magazine, Strength and Health. Hoffman was also instrumental in making weightlifting an important event in the Olympics.
